The Children's Trust

Company Children's Trust Attendee Angie Turner & Michelle Baillie Course Social Media Training - Advanced Date Attended 22 March 2013

The Children's Trust is the UK's leading charity for childer with brain injury. We work with childer and young people from across the UK.
Why did you attend this course?

We’re really active on social media with more than 65,000 Twitter followers and over 9,000 likes on Facebook. But The Children's Trust is a national charity, so we're always looking to reach more families, professionals and, of course potential, supporters. Attending the Advanced Social Media course at Jellyfish helped us learn new skills and be much more efficient and effective at what we do. And it's worked.

How was your day?

They keep the number of attendees on the course small, so there was always the opportunity to ask questions and study real life examples of the delegates’ social media platforms. The tutor was extremely professional and gave advice to help us improve what we were doing as well as things to go away and think about. We came away with an actionable to-do list (but in a good way!).

How have you applied what you've learnt?

Straight after the course we took our learning’s and applied them to the way we worked. We’ve noticed a constant increase in our Twitter followers and now we’re monitoring more of what we do, too. Some of our tweets are reaching over 150,000 people these days and we’re often awarded ‘top tweet’ status, which is just fantastic.

How has the course helped you?

It’s given us more confidence and enthusiasm for social media, and we now regularly share this new knowledge with our colleagues. For us, social media has to be an integral part of our communications mix both in promoting the services we provide for children with acquired brain injury, multiple disabilities and complex health needs, promoting our vital fundraising messages and events, and communicating our general campaigning messages.
